Singer Circular Stitcher Instructions

I had someone ask me today for instructions for the Singer Circular Stitcher.

I thought it would be an easy task but spent hours scouring the many books in my personal library and then the internet only to come up dry.  It seems that many people have obtained a Circular Stitcher without instructions.  I did learn that the instructions are contained in the Singer 636 Instruction Manual so I downloaded the whole 66 mb manual from the Singer website to get the one page Circular Stitcher Instructions.  Here they are:

How do you remove the white cap? Do you just pull it away from the pin? I have tried wiggling it but it wouldn't come apart. I was afraid if I pulled too hard I might break it.

It has been a while since I saw one of these in person but, if I remember, the pivot pin is like a thumbtack and the cap has a rubber center to hold it on the pivot pin. The cap should just pull off. Maybe someone who has a more recent experience with the circular stitcher will chime in to verify. -Ed

Thanks Ed, I recently bought one of these and although it came with the box, it didn't have instructions either. Granted, it's not difficult to figure out, I like seeing what the manufacturer has to say in case there's stuff I'm not thinking of. If you saw the Sewing with Nancy Circular attachment for embroidery embellishment you pretty much have it made. It fit really well on the 603E I have, but other machines don't have the bobbin plate in place that keeps it from spinning once installed on the bed. Just in case anyone was wondering if it will work on a low shank machine, I tried it on two different Singer machines and the unit spins.

I just give mine a good tug and it comes off.

I do want to share that I had puckering when I didn't use a stabilizer with a single layer of woven cotton quilting fabric. No matter the tension setting, use stabilizer to get the best results.

Hello,

do you know if i can use this attachement on the actual sewing machines (i have a heavy duty 4423)?

thanks

It seems this attachment probably won't work on the Singer Quantum 9960 since there's mention of low-shank machines causing it to spin. Anyone ever tried it specifically for this machine? Thanks!

There does not seem to be any reason for the machine shank height to affect operation.

But the device attaches to a threaded screw hole about 2 inches to the right of the needle, and slightly forward. Many older machines have these holes, but many newer ones do not. Other accessories like folder or hemmer attachments also mount there. Without the threaded hole there would be no way to fasten this attachment.
